From five-star beach resorts to family friendly stays with cool kids clubs, wake up to Bali's sunrise views at the best hotels in Sanur.
I’ve been a Sanur local since I first moved to Bali, and what can I say, there’s just something about it that makes me stay. The calm beach is perfect for sunrise walks, and the cute cafes and family-friendly restaurants offer something for everyone. But what I love the most? The fact that despite its growing crowds, Sanur’s slower pace of life remains, and is a breath of fresh air in south Bali.
If that sounds like your kind of Bali holiday, then I’d say it’s worth staying in Sanur for at least a few nights. From luxury beachfront resorts to budget-friendly guesthouses and humble villas, here’s my shortlist of the best hotels in Sanur.
The best hotels in Sanur at a glance:
- Best for families: Andaz Bali
- Best for convenience: Prime Plaza Hotel Sanur
- Best for couples: Seascape Resort
- Best affordable hotel: ARTOTEL Sanur
The best hotels in Sanur, Bali
1. Andaz Bali

What makes Andaz Bali a standout is, not only is it the first Andaz resort in Asia, it also resembles a Balinese village. Whenever I swing by here, the Koi pond at the entrance makes me feel Zen instantly. Then the lobby is a feast for my eye, with intricate wooden carvings in every corner. Step further in and you’ll find the heart of this beachfront resort: The Village Square. This grassy courtyard is surrounded by Andaz’s multiple restaurants and social hubs.
And for when you want to hide away? The lush landscapes, ancient trees and lagoon pools are fringed by tropical foliage – I’m talking “Tarzan & Jane” kind of jungle! They form a number of secluded areas that provide a quiet sanctuary for a temporary escape from city-living…
Local tip: Andaz Bali has recently become the first partner of Kakao Friends in Southeast Asia – so look out for rooms stuffed with Kakao Friends decor and plushies if you’re coming to Bali with kids.
Good to know: Andaz Bali is the newer sister of Hyatt Regency Bali next door. Staying here means you have access to Hyatt Regency Bali’s Shankha Spa and its 24-hour fitness centre.
Price per night: Starting from IDR 6,345,300
Where: Jl Danau Tamblingan No. 89A, Sanur
2. Prime Plaza Hotel Sanur

Location, location, location! Prime Plaza Hotel Sanur stands right by the main road of Sanur, which means easy access to Sanur’s beach, harbour and fab restaurants. But what I love most about this hotel is how it blends tropical Balinese charm with modern facilities. I was warmly welcomed by the friendly staff (they all remembered my name!), along with traditional touches and local artwork.
I was staying here solo, so I chose one of the spacious suites. But there are accommodation options for all travellers – couples, families and business trips too. I spent most of my days beside the lagoon pool, which is hidden amidst tropical gardens. It’s a peaceful oasis where you can swim leisurely laps, or simply lounge on the sunbeds – some of which are actually submerged right in the water!
Once I finally tore myself away from the pool, I found a fully-equipped fitness centre, a spa, jacuzzi and sauna. There’s even a whole variety of restaurants within the hotel, with options from Asian to international, and catering to all dietary needs.
Local tip: Some of the hotel’s local art is actually for sale, so you can bring a piece of Bali home with you!
Good to know: Staying here gives you access to all the facilities at its sister hotel, Prime Plaza Suites Sanur, including the kid’s club and play areas!

4. Klumpu Bali Resort

This all-villa boutique hotel in Sanur is a bit of a hidden gem, camouflaging in the neighbourhood’s hustle and bustle. Klumpu Bali Resort has got that peaceful and romantic cabin life that I love, without being in the jungle. And the kicker? It’s still walking distance from Sanur’s best restaurants and sunrise beach!
The villas are traditionally designed with Balinese wooden furnishings in a sweeping 50-square metre space. Each villa is complete with high ceilings, glass doors and windows that bring nature and sunshine inside. And psst – if you’re travelling with the family, upgrade to the Klumpu Loft Villa with a secret upstairs bedroom that big kiddos will love.
Local tip: Staying at Klumpu means you get complimentary use of their bicycles, some even have a child carrier at the back.
Good to know: Klumpu Bali Resort is hidden on a small street just off Sanur’s eat street, Jalan Danau Tamblingan.

5. Seascape Resort Sanur

If you think all you can find in Sanur are family-friendly hotels, think again! Seascape Resort Sanur is one of the newer hotels in Sanur that offers a place to stay for adults only (sorry kids!). It’s slightly off the main food and shopping strip, but it should definitely be on your radar if you’re coming to Bali for a romantic getaway.
For starters, the vibe here is intimate and tranquil, with just a handful of suites and one-bedroom pool villas, all decorated in soothing earthy tones. You’ll appreciate the little luxuries here: Alexa smart rooms, a capsule coffee machine for your morning fix, and a Dyson hairdryer. Even the bathroom amenities get a thoughtful touch, from none other than Bali’s Sensatia.
Local tip: Seascape Resort is a bit of a distance from Sanur’s hotspots. It’s more suited for couples looking for a staycation with occasional visits to the neighbourhood and the beach via their shuttle service.
Good to know: The Grand One Bedroom Villa is my favourite, because it comes with a projector for cosy movie nights, Middle Eastern-inspired designs and lots of lovely living space.
Price per night: Starting from IDR 6,150,000

It’s complete with three swimming pools (the beachfront one is my all-time favourite), the luxury Shakha Spa and fitness centre, the beachfront Italian restaurant Pizzaria, and the Indonesian-inspired Omang Omang restaurant.
This breezy and beautiful Sanur hotel is designed with a modern Balinese aesthetics in mind. So you’ll find wooden structures, stone carvings and rattan furniture all around. As for the spacious rooms and suites? Expect sweeping views of the lush gardens and the ocean that sparks at sunrise.

8. ARTOTEL Sanur

One for the artistic souls, ARTOTEL Sanur is one of those hotels you wouldn’t believe it’s good based on how budget-friendly it is. That is, until you’ve actually stayed there. In fact, by the end of my stay here, I didn’t want to leave. It directly impresses with its architecture that’s inspired by Sanur’s annual kite festival, and artwork from some of Bali’s best emerging artists.
I stayed here for two nights, and my room was cosy and super cool! Think a statement mural on the wall, a plush bed, modern designs and essential amenities. I had breakfast at its Indonesian restaurant Lidah Lokal, but I think the jewel of the crown is its rooftop space. There’s a bar, a spa, and a swimming pool which glows at sunset.

Each stylish suite comes with high-end facilities (hello digitally-controlled lights and curtains!), while the luxe villas feature their own private pools. But what I like the most is the selection of Indonesian breakfast at the restaurant Layang-Layang. You’ll want to head to the beachside restaurant Pier Eight too, to catch Sanur’s sunset ambiance and top it off with a signature cocktail or two…
