Pizza and pasta reign supreme at these Italian restaurants in Bali, from comfort home-cooking to Michelin-worthy fine dining, too!
Bali’s full of Italian restaurants – but not all of them are worth your Rupiah. So, I’ve tracked down the ones that consistently deliver: proper pizza with charred, chewy crusts, pasta made fresh in-house, and menus that even the locals rave about. From casual trattorias and neighbourhood pizzerias, to fine dining restaurants with award-winning chefs at the helm, these are the Italian restaurants in Bali I genuinely recommend.
Best Italian restaurants in Bali – EDITOR’S PICK
1. Da Maria

Just one step inside Da Maria and I was whisked away to the Amalfi Coast, surrounded by blue-and-white interiors and flowing tiled fountains. Even the staff greeted me with a resounding “ciao!”. This modern Italian restaurant stands loud and proud on Petitenget in Seminyak, with an enormous grand entrance that leads to a stunning air-conditioned courtyard.
It’s here in this ‘indoor garden’ where the magic really begins – where Executive Chef Lorenzo De Petris presents classic Italian flavours with precision and soul. All the pastas are made in-house – they even extrude the semolina pasta with a Monferrina machine from Italy. As for the Neapolitan-style pizzas, they’re made from 24-hour fermented dough, then fired in lava stone ovens.
I tried the Lamb Arrosticini antipasti to start, before moving onto the pappardelle, which is slow-cooked in a shiraz beef brisket ragu, and finished with plenty of parmigiano. Then came the chicken cotoletta: perfectly crisp, and lifted with confit lemon and capers. And the standout? The spaghetti chitarra, tossed with prawns, lemon butter and bottarga. Simple, sharp, and seriously good.
The drinks hold their own too, thanks to Bar Manager Luca Marcolin and Beverage Director Denny Bakiev. I ordered the Sgroppino, which was mixed table-side with flair. It’s just one more way that Da Maria knows how to put on a show.
Must-try dishes: Lamb Arrosticini, Chicken Cotoletta, Spaghetti Chitarra

2. La Lucciola

It’s rare to find somewhere as iconic as La Lucciola that still feels so authentic. It’s one of the few beachfront restaurants in Bali that doesn’t need to shout to be heard – there’s no Wi-Fi, no social media or any loud marketing. Just open-air dining and old-school service in a breezy pavilion, right by the beach. Even the walk to the restaurant is a treat, past Petitenget Temple and over a cute little bridge. I’ve been coming here for years — and it hasn’t changed, which is exactly why I keep returning.
The Italian-style menu is straightforward but beautifully done. There’s grilled fish, some of the best pasta I’ve ever tried, and crisp salads for on the side. Even the olive oil and focaccia while you wait is pure perfection. Add one of the better wine lists on the island, and you quickly understand why this is one of the very best restaurants in Seminyak (and all of Bali).

This is Italian food like you’ve never seen it before. Award-winning Chef Maurizio Bombini leads the kitchen at Mauri, taking Italian flavours to exceptional new heights. He uses Bali’s finest local ingredients (many are grown in the restaurant’s own rooftop hydroponic garden) to create Mauri’s seasonal tasting menu. It’s a true masterpiece. Watching the chefs in the glass-enclosed kitchen is a real treat too, and you can even sit at the five-seat chef’s counter for an intimate dining experience. Before dinner, I wandered up to the mezzanine bar for Aperitivo-style bites and cocktails. It’s the perfect perch to overlook the elegant restaurant, and the perfect way to begin such a memorable fine dining experience in Bali.

Traditional techniques and Italy’s rich heritage are infused into every dish here, topped off with personalised touches and a warm Italian welcome.
I headed to the lush veranda for a pre-dinner aperitif, before tucking into grilled octopus, a Sicilian-style parmigiana, and the Uovo 62 ̊ e Tartufo. Trust me – you won’t want to miss Amici‘s pizzas either. But, I’d come back again and again for the tagliatelle alla ruota. It’s pasta served table-side from a Grana Padano wheel which is then topped with black Italian truffle. Finish off with the homemade Tiramisu and a bottle of Tuscan red.

And if you make friends with the bartender (highly recommended), you’ll get countless shots of complimentary limoncello too…
