I was one of the first guests to stay at the brand new Noema Resort Pererenan. Here's what I thought about this hot new Bali hotel.
If you love the bustle of Canggu, but you prefer to stay somewhere calmer, let me point you towards Pererenan. As a local Bali resident, I prefer this up-and-coming area of Canggu, for its slower pace of life, laid-back surf scene, charming cafés, and a growing creative community. I’d say it’s worth staying for at least a few days in Pererenan, to really explore everything the area has to offer. I did exactly that, and I stayed at the brand new Noema Resort Pererenan. It’s a gorgeous place to stay, and so much more.
Noema is a creative sanctuary where art and wellness collide. I had the pleasure of being one of the first guests to check into Noema during its soft opening weekend, and even though it was barely a week old, the service and the experience was exceptional. I’ll take you through everything I experienced during my two-night stay here, from the seamless check-in, to my cosy studio, and all the incredible new restaurants and wellness programs within this sleek new resort.
First things first: Checking-in to Noema Resort Pererenan

When I arrived at Noema Resort Pererenan, I was warmly invited to make myself at home as I took in the lobby’s beautiful architecture. Think large archways and sunken sofas by the serene pond. Unlike many other hotels, there’s no check-in queues here, which made for a seamless start to my weekend. I stayed in a Tropical Studio with a plush bed and a balcony that overlooked the sparkling Lagoon Pool. The decor is modern-minimalist with touches of Noema’s iconic green accents, local artwork and earthy-yet-refined textures.
With 156 rooms, the choices are endless here. There are studios and suites with direct access to the Lagoon Pool, and some overlook the garden. There are also suites with their own private plunge pools for more privacy, plus larger rooms for travelling families. Soon, there will also be pet-friendly rooms! And if you’re looking for a more elevated experience, I was told that Noema will soon be unveiling a luxurious three-bedroom penthouse, complete with its own rooftop terrace and sweeping ocean views.
Dining at Noema Resort Pererenan

Next, let’s talk food, because a resort stay is nothing without great restaurants. Luckily, Noema Resort Pererenan didn’t disappoint. I headed to Mamaloma for breakfast and lunch. It’s an all-day dining spot, but in the morning, it’s reserved for hotel guests with a sweeping breakfast buffet. I went straight for my beloved Indonesian breakfast: Bubur Ayam (AKA chicken and rice congee), and I paired it with a jamu (a traditional Indonesian turmeric drink).
The à la carte menu is available from lunch onwards, which consists of local and international fare. I tucked into an indulgent homemade ravioli stuffed with duck confit, which I paired with Mamaloma’s twist on a daiquiri – it comes with delicate pearls that burst with the flavour of local grapes as you bite into them.
The other restaurant at Noema is Paparempa, which dives deep into Indonesian heritage cuisine. Each dish is an ode to the archipelago, crafted with traditional cooking methods and plated with modern finesse. I started my dinner with some spicy pan-seared scallops, followed by a Jimbaran-style flame-grilled snapper topped with Balinese sambal. As an Indonesian girl who grew up on sambal, I was happy that they didn’t hold back on the chilli! My dinner ended with the Mascarpone Cendol Panna Cotta (a European twist on the local dessert), and a spicy Tabia Bun cocktail.
Wellness, art and spa experiences at Noema Resort Pererenan

What really sets Noema Resort Pererenan apart is its focus on creativity and connection. The resort is dotted with impressive art installations by renowned Indonesian artists, like Iwan Yusuf and Sekar Puti, as well as an interactive wall climbing feature by artist Kanoko Takaya. There’s even a multi-level, all-ages playground that connects each floor, creatively designed by SIURA Studio.
I personally love what Noema offers on the wellness front. Think rooftop yoga at sunrise where I got to salute the sun (literally!) from a sky-high open space. The main swimming pool is an oasis surrounded by lush greenery, and the gym is well equipped for various workouts, plus a sauna hidden inside the changing room.
But the highlight? Oori Spa, a Korean-inspired wellness retreat perched on the rooftop. I opted for their signature Radiance Ritual for the ultimate glow-up. It started with 10 minutes of sauna, followed by a Korean body scrub and a soothing full-body massage with their homemade organic aloe vera gel. I chose to end the ritual with an ice plunge on the open-air deck while I soaked in the views.
Did I mention the resort is minutes away from Pererenan Beach? It’s a short walk or a shuttle ride (in a Volkswagen van, no less!) to the black sand beach. From the delicious dining to the inspiring artwork and wellness experiences, Noema Resort Pererenan really does tick every box.
