Looking for the perfect city hotel in Singapore? From a romantic getaway to a retail therapy escape, here are the hotels to book based on your mood.
After years of reviewing some of Singapore’s finest hotels (tough job, we know), we’ve realised that the best staycays aren’t always about thread counts and bathtub views – it’s about matching your mood to your hotel. Want a shopping spree? There’s a hotel for that. Feeling romantic? We’ve got you. From luxe rooftops to heritage facades, here are four stunning city hotels in Singapore for whatever vibe you’re chasing…
For retail therapy: Hilton Singapore Orchard
Best for: Fashionistas, deal hunters, and anyone whose idea of cardio is strolling along Orchard Road with five shopping bags in tow.

Mall-hopping along Orchard Road is fun, but there are times when we’d like to have a shopping spree without having to pop in and out of the blistering heat. That’s why we’re eyeing Hilton Singapore Orchard for a hassle-free getaway, where we can indulge in retail therapy without having to leave the AC. Where, you ask? This luxe Hilton hotel offers direct access to Mandarin Gallery, an upscale gem with designer boutiques and gourmet experiences, fit for an arvo of self-indulgence.
The cherry on top? The hotel’s rooms are designed with style in mind. Think open-concept wardrobes, sleek lighting, and chic mirrors for your post-shopping try-on hauls. Add to that five world-class dining concepts, including Osteria Mozza by Nancy Silverton and Chatterbox (yes, this upscale chicken rice still slaps), alongside a breezy rooftop pool, and you have yourself a truly indulgent getaway in the heart of the city.
Hot tip: Ask for the Dream Ritual at turn-down. Spoiler: it’s the sleep upgrade you didn’t know you needed.
For a romantic retreat: Conrad Singapore Orchard
Best for: Couples, honeymooners, and those seeking a plush but tranquil escape.

When date nights start to feel a little too routine, it’s time to switch things up. We’re talking about luxe bubble baths, convos over cocktails, sleep-in mornings… all at Conrad Singapore Orchard. This getaway offers the kind of intimate, elegant staycay that’s ideal for a romantic escape. Tucked in a quieter part of Orchard Road and just a short walk from the Botanic Gardens, this hotel serves verdant serenity in spades.
We love how the experience here is built around slow living. Each room comes with a curated sleep-to-wake ritual, complete with botanical elixirs, an in-room sound bath, and a pillow menu that’ll have you sleeping like royalty. Food-wise, it’s a dream: visit Michelin-starred Summer Palace for a candlelit meal, Manhattan bar for barrel-aged cocktails (the Rickhouse experience is a must), and a hidden gem called East47 – an intimate 12-seater gastro-cocktail studio tucked inside Manhattan.
Hot tip: Book a table at East47. It’s not on everyone’s radar… and that’s exactly why it should be on yours.
For artsy adventures: Conrad Singapore Marina Bay
Best for: Gallery hoppers, art lovers, and creative souls who have a thing for cool architecture.

If you’re the kind of person who gets giddy at the sight of a romantic spiral staircase or abstract sculpture, book a retreat at Conrad Singapore Marina Bay, stat. This sleek city sanctuary offers more than panoramic views of Marina Bay – it’s practically an art gallery, with serious design cred to boot. Home to over 3,400 artworks from both Singaporean and international artists, the hotel features a self-guided art tour titled Cultural Reflections in Art, where you can take it all in at your leisure.
Beyond the lobby, you’re minutes away from the city’s best-known creative haunts. We recommend the Esplanade with free outdoor concerts and its famous photo-worthy facade, as well as well-known museums like the ArtScience Museum and the National Gallery with stunning architecture and an array of galleries to explore. Back at the hotel, wind down at the alfresco gin terrace, or soak in the skyline from your suite.
Hot tip: Loving the unique architecture at the National Gallery? You’ll be pleased to find out that the guided tours at this museum don’t just bring you around the galleries – there’s also a free tour that guides you through the history of the National Gallery building and the Supreme Court!
For a dose of local culture: Hilton Garden Inn Singapore Serangoon
Best for: Culture buffs, street art lovers, and explorers who prefer hawker bites to fancy restaurants.

Sure, the big hotels in the city centre are glamorous, but sometimes you want to feel the heartbeat of a neighbourhood. Enter: Hilton Garden Inn Singapore Serangoon. (Our full review here!) Located in the heart of Little India, it offers a front-row seat to one of the most vibrant heritage districts in the city. Think colourful temples, historic shophouses, and tête-à-têtes over prata and teh tarik at Tekka Market.
This location is perfect for those who want to explore a more local side of Singapore. The hotel itself is modern, comfortable, and has incredible views of heritage shophouses juxtaposed against the city skyline. We enjoyed dipping our toes at the Level 8 pool for a post-exploration wind down, and brunching at Together & Co. for a local-inspired breakfast spread coupled with breezy city views. Pick this staycay spot if you want to feel like a tourist in your own city, we say.
Hot tip: Grab your camera and go mural-spotting along Race Course Road, Dunlop Street, Kerbau Road, and more. (We spill the deets here.)
Whether you’re after romance, retail, reflection, or a dose of heritage, there’s a hotel in the city for every mood. So go forth and plan your next escape – you might just fall in love with Singapore again.
