Out all hours or got a midnight craving you can't shake? No judgment. Here are some great supper spots in Singapore for late night bites…
It’s safe to say everyone loves to eat (including you, dear reader) and yes, we’re up for it at all hours. After a night out drinking, sometimes the only way to make everything feel better is to treat yourself to some serious grub. Well, I’ve covered all corners of the island to find the best supper places, and these are the ones you should hit up for late-night food in Singapore.
Late-night supper places in Singapore: Central
1. Orchard Bak Chor Mee
Have you ever stepped foot into Orchard Plaza? If the answer’s no, now’s a good time to do so. Make your way to the fourth floor for Orchard Bak Chor Mee, a new contender in Singapore’s supper spots. This literal hidden gem – you’ll need to keep a look out in order to find it – is where you can slurp up savoury bowls of bak chor mee. The kitchen is helmed by a chef who used to work at a noodle stall in BK Eating House (yes, that one), so you know the standards are sky high. There aren’t a lot of seats, and the queue gets longer after 1am, but trust me, it’s all worth it.
Must-try items: signature bak chor mee sua, old school laksa
How much: From $7.90
Opening hours: Mondays to Saturdays, 7pm to 5.30am
Address: #04-17, Orchard Plaza, 150 Orchard Road, Singapore 238841

2. Sam Leong St Chicken Rice

Chicken rice at 2am, anyone? If you’re in the Little India vicinity and in the mood for a plate of chook and carbs, I say forget everything else and visit this heritage brand. It may not be as popular as Tian Tian or Chatterbox, but Sam Leong (not to be confused with the celeb chef) has its fair share of devotees. Come with an empty stomach ‘cos the generous portions will fill you up and send you straight to food coma land. If that’s still not enough, order the soup of the day to wash everything down.
Must-try items: Poached chicken rice; fried chicken wing; chicken liver
How much: From $3.50
Opening hours: Daily, 8am to 3am
Address: 12 Verdun Road, Singapore 207278

3. Hanjip Korean Grill House

If you’re done drinking earlier than expected in Clarke Quay and looking for a place to refuel, I suggest hitting up this grill house. Korean food always does it for me, and I’m sure most folks are in the same boat too. Picture a sizzling grill filled with succulent beef and pork cuts… what a sight, eh? Let’s not forget a table overflowing with spicy tofu stew, kimchi pancake, steamed egg, and more. You’ll need help leaving the restaurant after all that feasting.
Must-try items: Hanjip platter; spicy handmade tofu; kimchi pancake; steamed egg
How much: Dinner set from $178; a la carte from $22
Opening hours: Daily, 12pm to 12am

4. Haidilao Hot Pot @ 313

This brand needs no further introduction. I mean, who hasn’t heard of Haidilao? Besides overly spicy soup bases, this Sichuan-based restaurant is known for its theatrics. You must’ve seen videos of the staff flamboyantly stretching noodles in front of you like a twirling martial artist all over social media. Is the food any good? Of course – and that’s why people keep coming back.
Must-try items: Haidilao-styled bai-yu soup base; tomato soup hot pot

5. The Ramen Stall

It’s easy to find halal and Muslim-owned food options in Bugis, but ones that stay past midnight? I can count them with one hand. Thank heavens for this spot, which is ever ready to feed night owls till 2am. Modelled after The Ramen House at Short Street, The Ramen Stall offers traditional Japanese cuisine without using pork, lard, and alcohol in its dishes. If you can take the heat, let’s see if you can handle the volcano ramen. Good luck!
Must-try items: Volcano ramen; unagi maki; salmon belly sashimi; Hokkaido chicken strips; Japanese curry rice
How much: From $4.90

If you’re craving flame-grilled western delights that will make your mouth water, Char-Grill Bar at Holland Village won’t let you down. 7. 49 Seats

A brief history lesson about 49 seats: its name came about because the restaurant originally started out with exactly 49 seats at its first outlet in Chinatown. If you’re curious about whether the number is still the same, you can go around counting. As for me, I’m going to take a seat and enjoy the fusion grub on offer. Tom yum seafood pasta sounds (and tastes) a lot better than doing mathematics. Psst: enjoy 10% off your total bill if you dine after 10pm, and 15% off after midnight.
Must-try items: Tom yum seafood pasta; fish and chips with alscampi sauce
How much: From $7.90

8. Beauty in The Pot

Hotpot is good for any time of the day: after an intensive bowling sesh, during a rainy day, and even for supper. One of our team’s go-to spots is Beauty in The Pot at Orchard Road. This late-night favourite offers six collagen-based soups that satisfy hunger pangs and keeps diners looking beautiful. Goodbye, exercise and microneedling! Go for the quart pot option because… why not? The more the merrier! Plus, you don’t have to fight with others about which soup base to get.

9. Maxwell Food Centre

Maxwell Food Centre is chaotic in the daytime, especially during lunch hour. But come back after hours, when you’ve had a long night of drinking in the city and all you want is to tuck into a comforting bowl of fishball noodles or a satisfying plate of fried char kway teow. The Indian Muslim stall is also open till late, so you can enjoy pratas and mee goreng. Our team loves Maxwell’s central location for late-night food in Singapore!

You know you’ve arrived at this restaurant in River Valley when you spot a long queue waiting for their seats. Thankfully, the line moves quickly. Its extensive menu covers Asian and western cuisine, ranging from fried rice and roti john to chicken burgers and fish and chips. Regulars rave about the mutton biryani, though I prefer the mee goreng pattaya. If you listened to our podcast, you’d know I also love Zamas’ teh cino. It just hits the sweet spot!

So you’ve spent a good chunk of the night getting tipsy at Circular Road (no judgment here!). If you wanna sober up before you head home to crash, I say walk (with the help of a friend) to this eatery. Shah Alam constantly sees a stream of folks in need of midnight munchies – a testament to its popularity. Of course, the affordable prices help. Sometimes all you need is a good plate of curry rice to awaken you from your drunken stupor. A stone’s throw away from the bustling Mustafa Centre lies one of Singapore’s legendary supper spots. The rice here is drenched in rich curry gravy and accompanied by crunchy cabbage and crispy pork chop. Some people think it’s “ugly”, but I say it’s a beautiful, tasty mess. P.S. Be sure to have enough cash with you – it’s still pretty much old-school here.

14. Founder Bak Kut Teh

By experience alone, Founder Bak Kut Teh deserves a spot on this list. Having been around for over 40 years, the restaurant consistently delivers a mean bowl of broth. The peppery soup is replete with tender pork ribs and has the right amount of kick to it that’ll clear your sinuses and heads. Don’t just take my word for it: the photo walls showcase the celebrities who have frequented the place throughout the years.

Between its two locations, my allegiance lies with the Changi Village outlet. What’s not to like? Being there feels like you’re far away from civilisation – and with good food to boot. Love!
